					MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR NIFO-LAPPSET PRODUCTS
(Product codes beginning with NF)
Wooden components, pine
The wooden materials are first treated with an alkyd-based glaze, which protects the products against UV irradiation and gives them high weather resistance. The components are then treated with TEKNOL AQUA 1410, which helps to lengthen the lifespan of the wood considerably. After this, the components are primed with AQUA PREMIER 2900 and then given two coats of AQUA TOP 2651 varnish. Lappset supplies paint for retouching the products.
Wooden components, jatoba (hardwood)
The components are treated with linseed oil-based wood oil at the factory. We recommend that you apply this oil to all wooden components twice a year; this protects the wood against moisture, rot and splitting and prevents the colours from fading. Before applying the oil, we recommend that you wash the wood or brush the surface. Make sure to apply the oil thoroughly over the wooden surfaces taking special care to treat any end cuts. Greying hardwood can be restored to its original appearance by rubbing it with fine-grained sandpaper/emery cloth and then reapplying oil. The oil also helps to reduce the woods tendency to split although it does not eliminate it completely. Lappset supplies special oil for treating jatoba components.
Steel
Apart from normal cleaning steel that has been electrodeposited, passivated and powder-painted requires no other maintenance measures to keep it free from rust. If the paint coat has become damaged, the damaged area should be treated against rust with a coat of two-component paint.
Other materials
The hinges and locks on litterbins should be oiled once a year. We recommend tightening the bolts in tables and benches at regular intervals.

Wooden components of Nordic pine
Pine in the northern coniferous forest zone grows slowly (about 130140 days per year), making it densely fibred and tough. Pine is a living material that expands when it gets wet and shrinks when it dries. It can warp and split. However, this in no way weakens the strength of the wood. Sometimes the wood secretes resin, a natural characteristic of living wood.
Wood protection
The heartwood in Nordic pine typically accounts for more than 70 per cent of the entire volume of the tree. Heartwood is extremely hardwearing, which is why the structure of the wooden components used in Lappsets products is primarily designed so that the hardwearing heartwood is used on the surfaces that are most exposed to the weather. Sapwood is prone to rotting but can be made just as hardwearing as heartwood thanks to our modern pressure impregnation techniques and safe wood protection agents. The agents used in Lappset's products are free from arsenic and chromium.
We use water-soluble glaze paints to enhance the properties of sapwood and to give added protection against the suns ultraviolet irradiation and fungi. Some of the painted surfaces are also given a coat of varnish. Wooden materials treated in this way can be disposed of at a landfill site allocated to construction waste.
Glue-laminated wood
Structures that need to be especially strong as well as long, sturdy and curved components are made from glue-laminated wood. Glulam is made up of sheets of timber, which are pressed together and bonded with weatherproof glue. Substantial variation in weather conditions can cause small cracks to appear even in glue-laminated wood. However, the cracks do not weaken the timbers durability. In any case, glue-laminated wood does not twist or warp. Variations in moisture levels have less of an effect on glue-laminated wood than they do on solid wood.
Metal components
Metal components are made either of stainless steel, anodised aluminium, hot-dip galvanised steel or sandblasted, zinc epoxy-coated and polyester powder-painted steel or electrodeposited and powder-painted steel. Sandblasting, zinc epoxy coating and powder painting give steel a strength level that is almost comparable to that of hot-dip galvanised steel in addition to creating a finished look.
Plastic components
Small plastic components are made from either polycarbonate or polypropylene. Load-bearing elements are reinforced with fibre when necessary. The plastics used in Lappsets products are recyclable.
Fastenings
The screws, bolts, lock nuts and washers used in Lappsets products are made of stainless or hot-dip galvanised steel.
Packaging
Lightweight products are supplied in cardboard boxes stacked on a pallet or wrapped in plastic inside a cardboard box. Heavy products are packed in wooden crates. Pallets and crates are made of untreated wood. They can be re-used or burnt.
LappTop bench
The plate components are made from laminate and clear acrylic. All exposed fastenings are of stainless steel. The foundations are hot-dip galvanised steel.

				Instrukcja instalacji
The estimated installation time is dependent on the size and the accessibility of the site, the concrete baseworks and the assembly time. The installation time required does not include groundworks, or making good where necessary.
Lappset playground equipment will be delivered as components and elements with freight list, installation instructions, inspection and service instructions.
